Praying for Our Sons from Head to Toe: Day 3

Hello Again!

Here we are at Day 3! Let’s get right to it…

HIS EARS

Just as I pray for You to lead my son away from temptation by what he sees with his eyes, I pray You will lead him away from temptation with what he hears with his ears. Keep my son vigilant today against the worldly influnences of today’s music and the talk of his peers. Lord, grant that my son might put a guard over his ears today and seek voices of affirmation, holiness and godly humor. Please place in my son a craving to fill his ears with worship and praise.

May he also hear Your still small voice today (1 Kings 19:12, NKJB) and listen as You instruct him (Deut. 4:36, Ps. 32:8). I pray he will listen to You and not turn away (Is. 50:5). I pray he will hear You telling him when to turn to the left or to the right, that he will listen to wise counsel from his friends, peers, teachers and coaches (Prov. 10:21). I pray he will walk away from coarse joking, filthy talk and off-color jokes. Remind my son today that those are not for him. He is called to something greater (Eph. 5:4).

HIS MOUTH

Lord, I pray the words of my son’s mouth will be pleasing in Your sight today (Ps. 10:14). I pray no unwholesome word would come from his mouth, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen (Eph. 4:29). I ask that he would honor me with his words and tone of voice. Set a guard over his mouth and keep watch over the door of his lips (Ps. 141:3). Put words in his mouth so that he may make Jesus known to those around him (Eph. 6:19).

Lord, I pray You will keep him from lewd jesting and inappropriate or profane language. Let these have no appeal to him (Eph. 5:4). I pray he will be a young man of honor and keep his word to his family, friends and teammates (Matt. 5:37). I pray he will do everything without complaining or arguing so that he may become blameless and pure (Phil. 2:14-15).

Help him not to be hasty in his speech (Prov. 29:20) but be slow to speak and quick to listen (James 1:9). Whatever he says today, may he be a good representative for You (Col. 3:17).

I ask this in the matchless name of Jesus Christ, because there is no other name under heaven by which these requests can be heard, nor any other name by which we can be saved. Amen.

    • So often we hear as mothers that what we do isn’t enough, right? I love that the world’s definition of success has nothing to do with how God defines it! If I am “victorious in my home” it matters a great deal to God. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR COMMENTING AND READING MAMASTRONG!!!
